Nuala’s back after completing ANOTHER London Marathon on Sunday in extremely hot conditions that weren’t really suited to marathon running and to be honest it looks like it hasn’t fazed her one little bit as she runs up the stairs to the office… how does she do that?

David Huxley, Managing Director of DGS Service Solutions commented: “Immense pride and respect are in abundance here at our Belfast Head Office and the relentless training outside of office hours on cold, dark and dismal nights on the streets of Belfast clearly paid dividends as our fittest, fastest and most fearless senior management team member Nuala ….no one here is disputing that….  tackled The London Marathon on Sunday past the 27th April 2025.

 Yes… Sales & Marketing Director Nuala McNally tackled the London Marathon starting in Greenwich Park and ending near Buckingham Palace, head on void of fear or anxiety and with a can do mentality much as she does on every challenge she faces here in her role as Sales & Marketing Director… 26.2 miles of blood, sweat and tears that all ended in unbridled joy !

We are all in awe of Nuala and could not be prouder as he completed the course in an incredible time of 3 hours 51 minutes and 16 seconds in sweltering heat so it’s pride and admiration in spades from all the team here at DGS Service Solutions and to be honest, I’m tired even thinking about it!

After the excitement of Ireland’s tight encounter with France in the Women’s Six Nations at the Kingspan Stadium on Saturday it was time for Queen’s University Ladies Rugby 1st XV to take on Malone Women in the Junior Cup Final also at the Kingspan.

Both teams fought incredibly hard and gave a great account of themselves but in the end there can only be one winner and it was Queen’s who emerged the victors by 19-5.

Let’s meet Site Supervisor Dorota Oleszczak… Dorota started working for DGS Service Solutions in the Spring of 2024 initially in the Harvey Group and within a very short period of time she had made a huge impression on the client and was praised for her excellent work.
As a result of her exceptional performance in May 2024 Dorota took on a supervisor position in Henderson offices while still working in Harvey group…. she has made such a difference on both sites with positive feedback from the client on both sites.
Dorota is a perfectionist and always goes above and beyond to ensure shifts are always covered, making sure all areas are cleaned and where necessary assisting staff on site with daily tasks… simply put – nothing is too much bother for Dorota and is a model employee that we are lucky to have. Dorota loves her beagle dog, travelling and meeting with her friends.

As we move through the seasons of autumn and winter the frequency of storms becomes ever growing bringing days of rain, strong winds and flooding.  Storm Darragh the most recent storm was the fourth named storm of the 2024 /2024 season after Ashley, Bert and Conall.

   

Storms are named by the UK Met Office, Ireland’s Met Éireann or the Netherlands’ KNMI when they are forecast to cause ‘medium’ or ‘high’ impacts. The list of storm names is announced on 1 September each year and runs in alphabetical order and later on could possibly reach as far as Izzy, Rafi and Tilly.

It was against this background that Jason Allen, Industrial Services Director at DGS Service Solutions received a call from Suffolk Community Centre, Belfast looking for localised flooding support for the community centre after a recent storm.

The new Industrial and Window Cleaning Division within DGS moved quickly to respond as this clearly was a ‘crisis’ call needing immediate support.

This project was dealt with swiftly and efficiently to ensure the Community centre could carry on with its impressive range of community based projects. We were delighted to assist and trust that this was an isolated incident for the centre but they were delighted that we were able to get them back up and running so quickly.”

Over 240 appearances for Bangor, Crusaders, Harland & Wolff Welders, Linfield, Ballymena United and Oldham Athletic  means that Jason Allen, our Industrial Division Director was not a bad player back in ‘ the day’ as he showed off his talent on the football pitches in Northern Ireland and beyond.  However goals were not the currency that Jason’s talents were best judged or appreciated … a grand total of eight in his career for this tidy no nonsense defender but regrettably not a ‘hat trick’ to be had!

However here at DGS Service Solutions we are not interested in that as Jason has now resurrected his ‘scoring boots‘ as the Industrial Division has recently secured their third contract win…this time a win for another Retail Unit in a local shopping centre which comes hot on the heels of further recent wins for Lisburn & Castlereagh Council and  yet another retail unit in a shopping centre…. at last a Hat Trick for Jason !
